Circular Tower Fan Assisted Natural Draft

Circular cooling towers are ideal to process large cooling water flows. The fans are arranged in a circle around the cooling tower and force the air through it.

- Fan-assisted natural cooling towers are smaller in size compared to natural draft cooling towers. This type of cooling tower can therefore be used instead of a natural draft cooling tower if space is limited. The investment costs are lower than those for a natural draft cooling tower.
- The natural buoyancy of the air contributes significantly to the cooling airflow in the cooling tower. Consequently, the electrical power consumption is lower than that of a cell-type cooling tower.
- No recirculation ofplume as in the case of a cell-type cooling tower.
- Balcke-Dürr has an extensive experience in designing and constructing this type of cooling tower. In close co-operation with local affiliates, licensees and other partners we can supply the complete civil engineering in almost all countries of the world.
Cooling is achieved both through evaporation of a small quantity of the water, latent heat being taken from the cooling water flow, and also through transfer of heat from the water to the cooling air by convection.
The required cooling air is forced through the cooling tower using fans. We are experienced in the design and construction of both the fans and the mechanical equipment thus being able to ensure reliable continuous functioning of a cooling tower.
